Well Tsu wanted me to make this and I finally got around to it (yeah yeah I'm lazy). Anyways this just a thread for people to bring up games you played and liked and think others should play. Hopefully you can bring up interesting facts about them ^^;.
(I got lazy and just decided to just post the games lol sorry... but i'm pretty sure Tsu can explain some ^^.)
1) Final Fantasy Tactics: This is my all time most favorite RPG. The storyline is AWESOME and the battle system is kind of cool. It's kind of like a chess battle system but it's still fun. It also has secret characters from other games like Cloud from FFXI which is nice to have ^^.
2) Final Fantasy III/VI (Snes/PS):
3) Xenogears (PS):
4) Secret of Mana (Snes):
5) Final Fantasy 7 (PS):
6) Shining Force (Sega):
7) Shining Force II (Sega):
Well that's it for now. I'll edit if I can think of more.

There are some off my favorites games : - Valkyrie Profile - i loved that one even if u can really explore - the story is really awesome with a lot of Mythology - PSX - Crono Cross - Star Ocean 2 - very very good RPG even if the graphics are crappy compared to the games we can find on PS2/PC - PSX FF Tactics, ahhh i spent some night on this game , trying to get all the items in the game with that ability (forgot the name), and the hidden dungeon is pretty evil too but the Invocation Zodiac {Found It!}

Secret of Mana is one of my all time faves!!! =D My favorite ff game is 3/6. (usa/japan). I think ppl should play that one if they can. (SNES or Playstation) I love the most recent Resident Evil, RE4... great fun. (GameCube or Playstation) Um... Katamari Damacy or We <3 Katamari are games that people should play at least once... even if it's just one level or so. (PS2) Er... Like Illu, when I think of more I'll edit. ^^ A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned. Shadow of the Colossus is a nice change from your average games too. I recommend renting it or borrowing it from a friend though. The game can be really short if you're as determined as I was. lol! (PS2) Made by the same ppl as Ico. Ico is pretty different too. Playing that game, then RE4 will make anyone appreciate the AI of the female you're escorting... ><! (PS2) If you play Ico then Shadow of the Colossus, we can chat about the odd parallels of the world and story... I'm looking forward to that. All for now. Thanks Illu!!! =D

hmmm my 2gil on highly recommended games to try:
"Warsong" (genesis, "Langrisser" on turbogrphx16) - probably my favorite genesis game - Turn based grid-map tactics with a storyline. Your "characters/heros" are the commanders which project a sphere of influence (bonus to atk and def ^^) over troops they command, and grow as they gain experience.
"Mechwarrior Mercenaries" (PC) - pilot giant robots with big guns. I went through this with a microsoft sidewinder joystick (highly recommended) and had a blast. I've also had a friend's wife demo her setup for this game with stick/throttle/pedals and voice commander on headset to give commands, a bit extreme imo, but looked pretty fun, and she had the setup anyway from her penchant for flight sims.
"Unreal Tournament" (PC) - mouse and keyboard first person shooter. Very fast paced action with many different modes. As a mostly role playing game person, I didn't think much of first person shooters until I gave this one a try, and it had me hooked from the tutorial, which was amazingly friendly for someone with my gaming background. This first person shooter focuses on multiplayer competition, and boasts AI "bots" that become harder due to the way they fight instead of simply doing more damage and having more hp (remarkable idea for the time). The third game of this series, UT2004 rocks just as much, with some awesome new game modes (one including vehicles), except that the tutorials are kinda blah.
"Morrowind" (pc, xbox) very cool single player rpg, but maybe too easy (or perfect depending on who you ask) for anyone with a power gamer mentality. Huge world, huge customization, oodles of depth, and a different (I heard one of the jedi games has a similar system now) combat system where you actually move your mouse to control the way your weapon swings.
"Diablo"/"Diablo II"/"Diablo II expansion:Lord of Destruction" (pc)- Has anyone noticed the boom lately on action rpgs (hack, slash or spells left and right)? I think this series has alot to do with the recent success of the genre, and Diablo II with expansion pack is still currently one of two games that potentially pull me away from ffxi for a few days/week even as dated as it currently is.
"Baldur's Gate" (pc)- comeback of the Dungeons and Dragons system into computer rpgs. Follows the second edition rules very nicely and has a really good storyline. You have full control over your party in this one as with the classic gold box games, and will need it as many of the encounters have the potential to wipe your party out if you are not careful ^^.
"Neverwinter Nights"/"SoU expansion"/"HotUD expansion" (pc)- The other of two games that pull me away from ffxi on occasion. This series is my favorite rendition of the Dungeons and Dragons world, following the Third Edition rules as elegantly as anyone dreamed. The single player campaigns can be done by yourself or with friends in multiplayer mode, and are really well written. I particularly like that you only have full control over your own character, though you can give instructions to your henchman/henchmen. Maybe not as tactical as Baldur's Gate, but more rpgish for my taste. Note: Neverwinter Nights 2 is due to come out some time this year ^___________^

oooo If you like Baldur's Gate type games, you should check out The Record of Lodoss War on dreamcast or the Champions of Norrath series on PS2. Also the 3D pacman/ms. pacman games were pretty fun/quicky game to pick up and play. I'm pretty sure everyone has played the Zelda series, I myself prefered the Gameboy versions, since it was...well...portable hehe^^. I used to be so into Socom 1 and 2, but I havent played 3 yet ps. Wario Wares for gba ftw

I really liked Lunar 1 and 2, but still feeling the burn from Sega's treatment of the Sega CD.
That series is available for PS now though as well.
As for Champions of Norrath, yes I have it, though my Playstation will no longer read that disc for some reason ; ;
the incarnations of baldur's gate and champions of norrath... and PS2 shining force all remind of of Diablo though, which is why that's the root game I mention. (yes, I know some of you have never played Diablo II and have no idea what I'm talking about when I refer to the "Secret Cow Level" XD)
Also, I've never played a Zelda game XD (I know, slacking)

I don't play much of RPG games but I do have a few as favorite.
Distiny of an Emperor : This game got me start it with RPG. SNES : Pretty good story line but what got me was the ability to capture your enemy and convert them to join you and fight for you ^^. Expanding the empire as you go.
FF 3 (snes) and FF 7 (ps2) my all time favorites. After FF7 I thought nothing can beat the story line so I quit RPG. Then I got into first person shooter games.
Halo1-2 counter-strike, counter-strike sourse. alot of fps games but forgot them. Then saw FFXI comercial on TV O.O . >>>> ME WANT<<<
FFXI::: Current:::
